The IRC CHECK can be used as a known reference before testing is carried out. It can also help with troubleshooting where unusual readings are apprent. Megger MFT1721 Multifunction Tester
The Megger MFT1721 is a mid-range 18th edition multifunction tester from Megger, suitable for testing single and three phase installations found in domestic, industrial and commercial environments.
Every Megger Multifunction Tester is built to last, it won’t go bang when dropped, bounced, left out in the rain, connected across phases or even locked on and connected to a live circuit. This tough reputation is topped off with a 3 year warranty (with product registration) for complete peace of mind.
Each Megger MFT also has a Z max function, ensuring testing final ring circuits is quick and easy.

These additional features are often considered as ‘future proofing’ simply as it reduces the chance of coming across part of an installation a user is unable to test. For example a 100V insulation range and 15mA continuity test are ideal for use on inductive loads or simply to save power. Whilst type B RCD testing is useful for solar PV installations and vehicle charging points.
Megger MFT1721 Measurements
Voltage measurements: True RMS for more reliable voltage readings even on noisy circuits.
Insulation testing: Selectable test ranges 100V / 250V / 500V or 1kV. The Megger 1721 is also fully protected against live circuits.
RCD: Ability to test 10 / 30 / 100 / 300 / 500 and 1000mA RCD’s at ½, 1 and 5 times. Auto test feature to save you time by not having to return to the tester when the RCD trips. Ramp test to determine at what current the RCD actually trips. Also tests Type B (pure DC) RCDs and 3 phase RCD (no earth).
Continuity and resistance: 200mA and 15mA test ranges with adjustable buzzer threshold.

The Megger 1721 has been designed to be as simple and comfortable to use for long periods of time. A TEST button features on both the right and left hand side, along with a large, central back lit screen. The 1721 is also a light weight tester at only 1kg when the batteries are fitted. A neck strap is also included.
