Radiodetection RD8200G Cable & Pipe Locator
The Radiodetection RD8200G Cable & Pipe Locator is designed for accurate and repeatable utility locating across construction, power, telecom and pipeline work. It combines 21 active frequencies, five custom frequencies, four sonde frequencies and passive locating modes in one versatile instrument. Guidance, Peak, Null, Peak+ and Broad Peak modes give operators several ways to identify and follow buried services in different site conditions.
Advanced locating functions help users work where signals are weak, crowded or affected by interference. TruDepth provides depth and current information when the locator is correctly positioned, while Current Direction can help confirm that the correct target line is being followed. Dynamic Overload Protection, SideStep interference evasion and power filters further support locating in areas containing strong or conflicting signals.
Built-in usage logging and GPS positioning record how, when and where the Radiodetection RD8200G Cable & Pipe Locator is used. Location data can be stored for field records, exported in multiple formats and used to review working practices, identify training needs and demonstrate completed work. Bluetooth Low Energy, iLoc transmitter control and survey measurement functions are also built into the locator.
For sonde locating, the RD8200G provides four sonde frequencies for tracing suitable non-conductive cables, ducts, pipes and conduits. Sonde Mode supports locating at depths of up to 15 m (50 ft). This dedicated locating method extends the instrument’s use to services that cannot be traced through a conductive cable or pipe signal.
Key Benefits
- Multiple locate modes help operators confirm the position of buried utilities in different site conditions.
- TruDepth gives depth and current information when the locator is correctly positioned.
- Current Direction helps distinguish the intended target from nearby cables when used with the appropriate CD signal.
- Dynamic Overload Protection and SideStep functions help manage strong or conflicting signals in areas prone to interference.
- GPS positioning and automatic usage logging create a record of where, when and how the locator has been used.
- Exportable location data supports field reporting, work confirmation, training review and best-practice monitoring.
- StrikeAlert provides an alert when shallow cables are detected, helping operators remain aware of nearby services.
- A vibrating handle, Swing Warning System and compass orientation help support correct handling during locating work.
- The transreflective low-power LCD uses ambient light to improve readability in direct sunlight while helping extend battery life.
- Lightweight ergonomic construction, a rechargeable Li-ion battery and IP65-rated casing support regular field use.
Common Applications
Radiodetection RD8200G Cable & Pipe Locator is suitable for a range of testing, maintenance and inspection tasks, including:
