ETI 170-350 Thermistor Food Simulant Probe
ETI 170-350 Thermistor Food Simulant Probe is designed for food temperature simulation in cold storage environments. Unlike a sensor that responds quickly to changes in surrounding air temperature, this probe has a slower response that more closely follows the way food changes temperature. This makes it useful for assessing conditions in cold food storage, chill cabinets and refrigeration units.
Air inside a fridge can change temperature much faster than the food stored within it. The ETI 170-350 Thermistor Food Simulant Probe helps provide a closer indication of actual food temperature by reducing the effect of rapid changes in air temperature. This can help users assess whether food has genuinely risen in temperature when refrigeration equipment fails or a fridge door has been left open.
The polypropylene probe uses an NTC thermistor sensor and has a probe range of -20 to 100 °C. It connects through a 1 m PUR/PVC lead fitted with a Lumberg connector and is compatible with the ETI Therma 20, Therma 22, Therma 20 Plus and Therma 22 Plus thermometers. Across specific temperature bands, probe accuracy reaches ±0.2 °C, providing accurate temperature measurement for food simulation tasks.
Key Benefits
- Slow thermal response is designed to follow food temperature more closely than rapidly changing fridge air.
- Provides a more useful indication of food temperature during changes in refrigerated conditions.
- Helps assess whether food temperature has risen after refrigeration equipment problems.
- Helps assess temperature changes when a fridge door has been left open.
- Can help avoid unnecessary disposal of food when surrounding air has warmed faster than the food itself.
- Offers probe accuracy of ±0.2 °C between 0 and 70 °C.
- Works with Therma 20, Therma 22, Therma 20 Plus and Therma 22 Plus thermometers.
- The 1 m connecting lead allows the probe to be positioned separately from the compatible thermometer.
Common Applications
ETI 170-350 Thermistor Food Simulant Probe is suitable for a range of testing, maintenance and inspection tasks, including:
- Cold food storage temperature simulation
- Food temperature simulation within the cold chain
- Assessing conditions in chill cabinets
- Assessing conditions in refrigeration units
- Checking food temperature response after refrigeration equipment failure
- Assessing food temperature changes when a fridge door has been left open
Why Choose This Model?
This model combines a slow-response food simulation probe with an NTC thermistor sensor, a 1 m connecting lead and compatibility with several ETI Therma thermometers. Its response is designed to represent food temperature more closely than a sensor monitoring fridge air alone.
