Megger SMRT46R Multi-Phase Relay Tester

The Megger SMRT46R Multi-Phase Relay Tester is a portable test system for electromechanical, solid-state and microprocessor-based protective relays. It also supports motor overload relays and similar protective devices. Its rugged metal enclosure combines field portability with high current and voltage output power.

Three voltage and current VIGEN modules provide up to three high-current sources and three convertible voltage channels. Users can configure these channels to produce four voltages and three currents or one voltage and six currents. This flexible arrangement supports single-phase and complete three-phase relay testing.

The Megger SMRT46R Multi-Phase Relay Tester can run RTMS through its optional integrated 25.7 cm colour touch screen or from a connected computer. Manual, steady-state and dynamic tests can be selected through clear menus and preset relay test routines. Results can be stored internally and transferred to a USB drive for reporting or printing.

Key Benefits
  • Combines multi-phase current and voltage sources in one portable test system
  • Allows operation from the integrated display or a connected computer
  • Uses clear RTMS graphics and touch-screen controls to simplify test selection
  • Changes output ranges automatically under load without stopping the test
  • Maintains maximum compliance voltage to support high-burden relay testing
  • Provides high current output for instantaneous overcurrent relay testing
  • Stores test results internally for later transfer to a USB drive
  • Uses audio and visual alarms to indicate output errors, open circuits and overloads
  • Supports manual, steady-state, dynamic, transient and synchronised testing
  • Allows modules and enabled software functions to be selected for specific test needs

Common Applications

Megger SMRT46R Multi-Phase Relay Tester is suitable for a range of relay testing, commissioning and fault-finding tasks, including:

  • Testing electromechanical protective relays
  • Testing solid-state and microprocessor-based relays
  • Testing motor overload relays
  • Three-phase impedance relay testing
  • Directional power and negative-sequence overcurrent testing
  • Three-phase current differential relay testing
  • Testing harmonic-restraint transformer differential relays
  • Instantaneous and ground overcurrent relay testing
  • Circuit-breaker and reclosing relay simulation
  • Transient and satellite-synchronised end-to-end testing

Why Choose This Model?

The SMRT46R provides an optional integrated 25.7 cm display, improved distributed power supplies and additional memory. Unlike the SMRT46, it can provide onboard manual control without requiring an external STVI controller.
