The Martindale BZ820-EV EVSE Socket Tester (Single Phase) is designed for first-line testing of EV chargers with Type-2 connectors. It provides a fast and reliable solution for checking the safety and wiring of EVSE installations. With both LED and audible indicators, users receive immediate visual and sound feedback on fault conditions and voltage levels.

Using the integral 4-position switch, the Martindale BZ820-EV EVSE simulates vehicle connection states, helping installers confirm correct CP signalling. These include CP modes A (disconnected), B (connected but not charging), C (charging ready), and E (CP error), with mode C used for supply tests. Faults such as reversed polarity, missing earth, or high earth-neutral voltage are easily identified through intuitive displays.

Smart Indication and Simulation

The built-in Type-2 connector includes status LEDs to confirm CP presence and L1 voltage. Three green flashing LEDs with a continuous buzzer indicate correct polarity and connection. If an error is detected, three red LEDs and a warning sound alert the user to one of 28 potential fault conditions. A handy look-up chart on the tester aids with diagnosis during on-site use.
