Megger MIT220 Insulation and Continuity Tester
Built for insulation and continuity work on domestic and industrial electrical systems, the Megger MIT220 Insulation and Continuity Tester provides selectable 250 V and 500 V d.c. insulation test voltages in a compact ABS instrument. Its combined digital readout and analogue arc supports precise readings while retaining a pointer response for evaluating circuit charge and discharge characteristics. A 10 kΩ to 1000 MΩ insulation measurement range covers low-voltage insulation applications, while the CAT III 600 V safety category supports work on electrical installations.
For continuity checks, automatic testing applies more than 200 mA in the 0 to 10 Ω range and measures from 0.01 Ω to 100 Ω, allowing both hands to remain on the probes. Lead null compensates for up to 9.99 Ω of test-lead resistance, while the buzzer supports rapid circuit identification below 2 Ω. Live-voltage display activates from 25 V, testing is inhibited above 50 V, and automatic discharge after insulation testing lets the user monitor any remaining voltage on the display.
Key Benefits
- Selectable 250 V and 500 V test voltages support different insulation testing requirements
- Automatic continuity testing starts without pressing the test button, leaving both hands available for the probes
- Combined digital and analogue arc display presents precise values and responsive circuit behaviour
- Lead-null storage compensates for test-lead resistance until the stored value is reset
- Live-circuit detection warns when an a.c. or d.c. voltage greater than 25 V is present
- Test inhibit prevents insulation and continuity testing when more than 50 V is detected
- Automatic discharge removes test voltage after insulation tests and shows the discharge on the display
- Automatic power-down after 10 minutes in standby helps preserve battery power
