Megger DCM305E Earth Leakage Clamp Meter
Designed for checking earth leakage current, the Megger DCM305E Earth Leakage Clamp Meter helps investigate circuits where an RCD trips unexpectedly. Its six ranges extend from 6 mA to 100 A, with 0.001 mA resolution on the 6 mA range and TRMS measurement for leakage and load current. Automatic or manual ranging, a 6000-count display and an analogue bar graph support direct measurement and trend viewing.
Measurements on circuits affected by harmonics or electrical noise can use the 50/60 Hz low-pass filter to aid reading stability. Three preset compare limits, 0.25, 0.50 and 3.50 mA, provide visual and audible warnings when the chosen threshold is exceeded, while auto hold, data hold and peak hold provide three selectable hold options. A 40 mm jaw permits measurement on insulated and non-insulated conductors, with an automatic backlight, 20-minute auto power-off and tactile hand barrier included in the instrument design.
Key Benefits
- TRMS measurement supports sinusoidal and non-sinusoidal AC waveforms
- Low-pass filtering improves measurements on circuits affected by harmonics or electrical noise
- Compare mode provides visual and audible warnings when a selected leakage limit is exceeded
- Auto hold and data hold support measurements where access or display visibility is difficult
- Peak hold provides an additional selectable hold option
- Automatic backlighting aids viewing of the 6000-count display in poor light
- Analogue bar graph display supports measurement trending
- Automatic and manual ranging provide selectable range control
- Automatic power-off after 20 minutes of inactivity helps preserve battery life
- The 40 mm jaw accepts insulated and non-insulated conductors
Common Applications
The Megger DCM305E is suitable for a range of earth leakage investigations, including:
- Measuring earth leakage on circuits with unexpected RCD tripping
- Distinguishing excessive earth leakage from a sensitive or faulty RCD
- Investigating earth leakage caused by installation faults
- Investigating earth leakage caused by faulty appliances
- Checking leakage associated with cable insulation deterioration
